Sustainable Diet

One of the better ways to reduce your carbon footprint is to embrace a plant-based diet, this doesn’t mean completely changing your diet, but providing more balance between a carbon-heavy and a carbon-light diet. Here are some quick tips to lower your diet carbon footprint:

  1. Choose white meats such as chicken instead of red meats like beef or pork
  2. Look for wild-fished seafood instead of those coming from fish farms
  3. Eat seasonally to avoid the carbon footprint of travel and processing by choosing local and seasonal fruit and veg
  4. Switch dairy milk to plant-based milk for sweeter, less carbon-emitting milk. But do your research, each plant-based milk has its own pros and cons in terms of resources used to grow, manufacture and deliver
  5. Take on the challenge of cooking one new meat-free recipe a month
